Multimedia Story Idea

My technology-based story will revolve around giving an objective overview and rating of the myriad of different web browsers available.

The general population of internet users utilize whichever internet browser comes standard with their computer, such as Internet Explorer for Windows users. Those slightly more tech savvy might download Google Chrome or Firefox, but do little research beyond that to find a internet browser which is truly best suited for them.

My story will review as many different internet browsers as possible, from popular choices such as Internet Explorer, Firefox, and Google Chrome, as well as less mainstream choices, such as Opera, Avant Internet Explorer, Flack, Maxathon, and many others. They will include ratings of speed, aesthetics, add-ons, customization, etc.

This is very important, for the readers, because there aren't many objective tests on which browser is best for what. Most reviews of internet browsers are by big companies, which could easily be influenced by companies who generally ignore smaller browsers, or by users on forums, or on their blogs, who have a strong bias to the browser they have, and haven't taken the time to test out all the other browsers. This will also give a good idea of what browser is best for what user. One browser may be good for someone who just casually browses, while another browser would be well suited for avid gamers.

I would use mostly text and photos for the article, the photos would generally be a screenshot of the browser in action, maybe of download speed tests for the browser, and of the browser icon. A slideshow may work as well near the end to go through the ratings and screenshots, but a simple text/picture combination would be effective and aesthetically pleasing. Some videos may be included of the browser at work, but it's still questionable whether it should be used or not.

  1. That's the question I am interested in too. You may be able to prepare some videos introducing helpful tools for certain browsers.

Another way you can choose is you can narrow down your target audiences and introduce good browsers for them.
